Av’s MacKinnon out vs. Red Wings with lower-body harm


Colorado Avalanche star heart Nathan MacKinnon continues to be in headlines for causes apart from highlight-reel offensive performs. 

Per Mike Chambers of The Denver Post, Avalanche coach Jared Bednar confirmed that MacKinnon will not play Wednesday night time towards the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena due to an unspecified lower-body harm. Fortunately for Colorado, this seems to be a minor setback. 

“He’s dealing with an issue that’s not getting any better,” Bednar defined. “Hopefully we get him as close to 100% as we can (for Friday).” 

The Avalanche host the Winnipeg Jets on Friday. 

MacKinnon missed a number of weeks of motion within the fall because of a lower-body harm. More lately, he was sidelined for 4 video games due to a concussion and facial fracture that required him to endure nostril surgical procedure following successful delivered by Boston Bruins ahead Taylor Hall again on Jan. 26. 

Earlier this week, MacKinnon prevented punishment from the league after it was dominated that he unintentionally struck linesman Michel Cormier within the leg together with his stick throughout Monday’s 5-1 loss at Boston. Bednar made it clear Wednesday’s choice to take a seat MacKinnon is not associated to that incident. 

Since returning to motion earlier this month, MacKinnon has loved a five-game level streak that is included three objectives and two assists. According to ESPN stats, the 26-year-old is second on the group with 36 assists and has recorded 48 factors this season. 

Colorado, in the meantime, sits atop the Central Division standings and is 10 factors forward of the second-place St. Louis Blues.
